A small nocturnal gecko of the warm south, emerging at dusk onto walls, ruins and old houses to hunt insects around lamplight.

Identification & best seen

Grey-brown, soft-skinned, with clinging toes and big dark eyes; active after dark.

Habitat & where to see

Stone walls, ruins and buildings in Herzegovina and the karst.

Fun fact

Unlike many geckos it has clawed, not sticky, toes — yet still scales vertical stone with ease.
