The Dinaric mountains hold one of Europe's healthier brown-bear populations, roaming the deep forests of the east and the central massifs. Shy and rarely seen, but very much present.

Identification & best seen

large, dark-brown; spring–autumn; tracks and signs more likely than sightings.
